Archos 605 Wifi : As a photo backup
We have just returned from a trip to Turkey, and have been using the Archos as a photo backup and viewing device. It has performed excellently, viewing RAW files from both the 30D and the 300D, I think it actually views the embedded JPGS, but it does so very well, and with the Battery Dock and a card reader attached, copies photos to the device at a reasonable speed. With over 2000 photos in 6 days, we needed the extra capacity and were then able to plug the Archos into a PC at the holiday villa to do first pass workflow and rating, ready for the review sessions with our course leader in the evening.
Hi may I ask, do you shoot RAW and if so, did Archos managed to copy the RAW too ?? any card reader should be able to sync with Archos right?
Thank you
Yes, I shoot RAW all the time and the Archos displayed the thumbnails from both the Canon 300 and 30 correctly. As long as you have the battery dock you should have no problems, I have not tried it with a multi-card reader, but it does work just fine with a single type reader.
Hi there, it’s exciting to see you’re doing exactly what i want to!
We’re heading to europe for 4 months and although this device can backup photos can we delete them off the archos (ie: if some are blurry etc) and i assume you just plug it in the mini dock or battery dock and it detects the camera and asks you to copy?
any info on this would be great as i dont want to part with $1000 if it doesnt do what it says.
Also is the browser a firefox breed? or you not sure?
Thanks in advance
The Browser is Opera based (they do a lightweight version), it works well any way.
Yes you plug in the reader to the mini dock and in the File option you can copy from the reader to the Archos disk. I did not delete any while we were away, but there is no reason you shouldn’t
