Wells Cathedral – Photograph of the Day

Another one from our visit to Wells at the weekend was awarded Photograph of the Day at the Photography Cafe.  The Cathedral is a stunning building and well repays time spent exploring the space.

Big Al’s comments were:

A POTD that jumped out from the Gallery images.

Using the right lens is a key factor in cathedral photos. Jane used a wide enough angle to get the curves of the arch and a narrow enough angle to avoid a noticeable distortion of the verticals. A good exposure has retained detail in the dark areas of the foreground, whilst the only blown highlights are the inevitable ones in the brighter parts of the stained-glass windows.
