Ilminster Stop Line Project

My peaceful Somerset hometown of Ilminster hides a wartime secret, in 1941 it stood fortified along the Taunton Stop Line, part of Britain’s desperate defense against invasion. Concrete pillboxes and anti-tank obstacles still survive in local hedgerows, silent witnesses to our darkest hour. This the617.club summer challenge project documents these forgotten fortifications through B&W photography, capturing how ordinary landscapes became potential battlegrounds.
