[singlepic id=2782 w=640 h=480 float=center] Taken at St Pauls outside the walls in Rome. This image won Photograph of the Day on the 18th. Big Al said Position is all-important in the taking of a scene. Most ‘snappers’ would stand in the middle of the corridor to get a picture.

[singlepic id=2584 w=800 h=800 float=center] They really seem to like my Venice shots at the Cafe, this one was taken just minutes after the “Classic Venice” shot and the lighting was really good. The torrential rain earlier in the day had made all the surfaces sparkle.

Sometimes images just won’t work, this was taken against the sun early in the morning and although the details were there it was difficult to get a good exposure. Working it through PhotoMatix produced a reasonable standard shot, but I decided to take it further and use a painterly effect.

The challenge on the Photography Cafe was “Food”, I was pleased to find my shot of cinnamon sticks came top of the shots after a 3 way tie in the first round of voting.
