Lockdown Walk 6 – Hedge Rose

Walking back along a well worn pavement by the main road we spotted this rose flowering away for all it was worth in the hedge amongst the brambles and the cow parsley.

Lockdown Walk 5 – River Isle

A new walk for us along the River Isle footpath in lovely walking weather. With spring in full flush the Cow parsley was high, as we the stinging nettles. We saw an egret and the woods were noisy with insects and bird song.

Our regular walk takes us up on to the Beacon with it’s extensive views across the Somerset Levels and beyond. We have been enjoying watching the lambs and wild rabbits who live in the hedge at the bottom of the field.

We walked from our house up the Beacon and then through Dillington park and out to long ponds before returning via Knott Oak, we met very few people and even saw a duck with a brood of around 10 duckings, but too far away for Jane to capture on her

Jane has been taking photos on her phone when out on our daily exercise, which we have been using to explore the footpaths around Ilminster. We are once again thanking our lucky stars that we have the best of both worlds, a good range of shops we can walk to

In this strange period where travel is banned we have been doing our daily exercise exploring our local area. The photo above was taken in the fields just behind our house and features the deep drills of a potato field in the early evening.
