POTD: Little Donkey

Little Donkey For the second time in a week I am delighted to receive Photograph of the Day for one of my shots from Jordan,  this time one of the little donkeys who work so hard in Petra. I had lots of donkeys in my shots as they gave a nice sense of scale to my images and looked much nicer than most of the tourists.

Here is what “Big Al” the sites photograph commentator had to say

Without the donkey, Jane would’ve been lucky to get in the Crackers list because the scene is very much all one subject. But the one subject in the foreground makes a magical transformation and gives scale to the picture. Normally one would have a relatively large foreground object; but here the subject has to be smaller to give the sense of being lonely against the vast terrain. Finally, and very nicely too, the donkey faces into the centre and is right in front of the path leading down. That’s a magic extra.
